Strength and Conditioning
Dance Athlete strength and conditioning programs develop the components of fitness required for elite dance performance through specific and individualised program design and attentive coaching. The educational focus empowers dancers to better understand their bodies and perform supplementary training with correct technique and effective progression.
To start a program a dancer will first complete a movement assessment and share their goals, strengths, and weaknesses through an athlete profile questionnaire. This information is used as the basis for their programming and to determine which components of fitness will help the dancer towards their goals.
One-on-one or group sessions are available in gym or studio settings.
Home Programs and Remote Training
Nothing supersedes the experience of face to face training with a dedicated coach. However, today’s technology can allow for high quality remote training and home programs, ideal for dancers who would otherwise be unable to participate. There are practical benefits such as timetabling flexibility and eliminating unnecessary travel for busy dancers.
We offer a hybrid service which still includes assessment and program induction to ensure correct exercise prescription and technique. Once proficient, the student is supported with a written program, video and unlimited questions and answers as they go.
Workshops and Intensives
Dance Athlete believes in empowerment through education. Workshops suitable for holiday programs, or as stand-alone events for students or teacher training.
Pilates
Pilates has been a popular mode of supplementary training for dancers for a very long time –starting with Joseph Pilates who brought his method to America in 1926. Joseph opened his Pilates studio in New York and began training dancers of the New York City Ballet.
Pilates improves body awareness, posture, mobility, core strength and muscular endurance making it a good fit for most dancers. Pilates mat classes are great for recovery sessions, or an addition to the supplementary training schedule.
Classical Ballet Coaching
Dance Athlete coaches have a strong background in dance. We feel this is essential when designing strength and conditioning programs for dancers and coaching them through. Rosie is a Royal Academy of Dance registered ballet teacher and offers ballet coaching services in addition to strength and conditioning.
